After the disappointing hatch of Lady Amherst’s pheasants – 4 lots of eggs but no chicks from 3 of them and four from 1 (all closely related) – I wondered if it was even worth trying again with more eggs, currently going for £30 for 6 eggs and p&p especially as it is towards the end of the season and fertility is not good. As I was making some enquiries one breeder said he didn’t have any eggs…. but did have 7 chicks (same age as my 4) for £5 each – perfect!!!!

Slight problem he was a two and a half hour drive away… which was an extra hour or more on the way home with the traffic………… but it was worth it as I now have 11 lovely chicks from 2 totally unrelated sources : )  Here are some of them:
