The day I thought might never come… The chainlink enclosure has chainlink!

With Paul very poorly nothing has happened on the chainlink enclosure for months. Poor Paul and family…

… but today some significant progress, thanks to Stuart and his quad bike, and later on Jan and my new neighbour Gary : )

Stuart and I first unrolled the rolls of chain link.

This was my first of many ‘is this finally happening?!!’ moments – here are the others:

Partly with the help of the quad bike, dragging the first roll up the far side.

Far side up!

Near side partly up, to be finished hopefully next weekend. The separate lengths of chain link all attached and for now folded over…

Hurrah! Am so pleased! Once it’s up (hopefully next weekend) there’s loads more to do before birds can go in but for now some brilliant progress!

Wow, it looks enormous! Great work though!

Thanks Jenny! It will be approximately 31.5m x 6m when finished (just over 103ft x 20ft) and 8ft+ high, with a foot of chain link buried in the ground with a layer of aviary mesh, ultimately subdivided into sections for the peafowl etc..
